In January the Westmoreland Girl’s Basketball team held their annual More Than a Game (MTAG) basketball event to fight cancer locally. With help from the entire Westmoreland community, the Westmoreland School District and Coach Jerrid Otis and his wife Megan, the event was a huge success. With the proceeds from the event, the team made a substantial donations to the Upstate Foundation (thank you to Toni Gary) to help patients and their families right here in Central New York. This year the team also wanted to do something a little extra special. The team decided to make a donations to support the SU Women’s basketball player Tiania Mangakahia and her fight against breast cancer. Tiania’s strength and story was not only an inspiration to the Westmoreland girl’s basketball team, it has been to so many others. On behalf of the Westmoreland Girl’s basketball team a donation was made to Tiania’s Tough-4-T GoFundme page (https://www.gofundme.com/f/tough-4-t). MTAG would again like to thank the Otis’, the Westmoreland Girl’s basketball team and the entire Westmoreland community – together we can continue fighting cancer one game at a time !! #Tough4T
