“We are so proud of the relationship we have formed with the More Than a Game Foundation,” Jerrid Otis, head coach of the Westmoreland Girls Varsity Basketball team, said. “There truly is so much more to life than basketball, and with the More Than a Game Foundation’s help, we are able to contribute to an important cause. The ability to make a difference and impact lives in a positive way is empowering and also an important life-lesson for our players.”
This year, Westmoreland’s goal is to raise $7,500.
“We are excited that our efforts are now a program initiative,” Otis said. “Hopefully, it will allow us to raise even more money.”
For the games scheduled on January 19, Westmoreland’s players will wear special purple warm-up shirts.
All proceeds from general admission, concessions, basket raffles, a bake sale and 50/50 will be donated to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Donations can also be made, in advance, to a Westmoreland Girls Basketball Program player or coach.
